But going digital can also mean higher earnings for providers. Here’s what Deloitte said about the relationship between digital maturity and revenue.

You’ll notice that efficiency is first on the list. Being able to complete crucial tasks faster is a key competitive advantage.

Let’s take a closer look at how going digital can mean less time spent on scheduling, routing, reporting, billing, administration—and waiting for payment.

Schedule with complete information at your fingertips.
After you Go Digital!, your system will already include much of the information you need for scheduling—such as vehicle capacity, drive times, member needs (for example, for a wheel chair or stretcher), and requirements or limitations for funding sources.

You’ll also be able to respond quickly to on-demand requests, which comprise about 15% of Modivcare rides. To schedule these rides, your dispatcher can check an on-screen view of your entire fleet and identify the closest driver.

A complete view is also useful when the software predicts a ride won’t get to a member on time. Dispatch can quickly schedule a different driver and help to ensure an on-time arrival at the appointment.

Optimize routing to increase profitability.
Routing optimization helps you plan multiple trips effectively. Some platforms even use artificial intelligence for routing, which takes both historical and real-time data into account to identify efficient routes. That cuts down on deadhead miles and time, as well as fuel consumption.

Routing can also help your drivers avoid accidents and construction. You can cover more rides and make more money on each one.

Simplify reporting for drivers and yourself.
A digital platform can capture details for each trip taken. Historical trip review tracks every vehicle in your fleet, down to the minute, so you always know where they’ve been. You get a clear view of pickup and drop-off times, on-time performance, no-show confirmations, and indicators of fraud, waste and abuse.

In most platforms, you can tailor reports to meet billing and regulatory requirements. By making reporting for compliance easier and more accurate, you reduce the risk of an audit. More data also gives you greater insight into operations for better decision-making and continuous improvement.

Reduce manual entry and time for billing.
With digital software, the data necessary to bill for a trip, such as contract rate, fills automatically. You’ll rarely have to enter data manually again. And you can submit claims quickly and easily, with no paperwork, so you get paid faster.

Spend administrative time on more valuable tasks.
You can set up automated ride reminders for members, which helps to decrease the number of cancel-at-door or no-shows you deal with. You won’t get as many calls asking “Where’s my ride?” either, because members get updates automatically.
